Overview

The Switchbench public data plane exposes a structured (typed-field) operation-per-route family — POST /transaction/{operation}/{channel} and friends — for originating a test authorization into the platform. Callers send JSON fields; there is no hand-packed ISO 8583 hex contract. The structured routes are Visa-only today.

Switchbench asks the Visa engine to prepare an outbound ISO 8583 authorization, writes it over your existing client-established mTLS TCP connection through the FRP edge to your fintech backend, waits for that backend’s response, and finalizes it into the REST response you receive. A pure-REST caller with no active mTLS TCP connection for the org receives a 502 delivery error on the outbound leg — see Initiating a test transaction over REST.

Send your CPS-issued API key as a bearer token: Authorization: Bearer sk_live_…. Create one from the dashboard; see Before you begin.
